- Eligible zones: RS-1, RS-2, and select other residential zones with rear lane
- Maximum size: 60 sq m (645 sq ft) main floor + loft if height allows
- Maximum height: 5.5m (18 ft)
- Setbacks: 1.2m from lane, 1.5m from side lot lines
- Parking: 1 parking space per laneway unit (can be tandem)
- Owner-occupancy: One unit (principal or laneway) must be owner-occupied
