BC Renovation Energy Rebates 2025: CleanBC & Canada Greener Homes

Energy Efficiency Renovation Rebates in BC

BC homeowners can access significant rebates and incentives for energy-efficient renovation upgrades in 2025. Stacking provincial and federal programs can cover 20–40% of eligible upgrade costs.

CleanBC Better Homes Rebates (BC Hydro / FortisBC)

  • Heat pump (air-source): Up to $6,000 from BC Hydro + FortisBC combined
  • Heat pump water heater: Up to $1,000
  • Smart thermostat: Up to $75
  • Weatherization (insulation, air sealing): Up to $4,400
  • New windows: Up to $80 per window (limited program)

Canada Greener Homes Grant (Federal)

The Canada Greener Homes Grant offers up to $5,600 for eligible retrofits plus up to $600 for EnerGuide evaluations. Requires pre- and post-retrofit EnerGuide assessment.

Eligible upgrades: insulation, air sealing, windows/doors, heat pumps, solar PV, thermostats.

BC Home Renovation Tax Credit (HRTC)

For homeowners with seniors (65+) or persons with disabilities: up to $10,000 in eligible expenses at 10% = $1,000 refundable tax credit for accessibility renovations.

How to Stack Rebates

Many rebates can be combined. Example: heat pump installation could yield $6,000 (CleanBC) + $5,000 (federal CGHI) + utility rebate = $11,000+ in combined incentives.
