Heat Pump Rebates in Vancouver 2025: CleanBC Guide

Heat Pump Rebates in Metro Vancouver 2025

With CleanBC and federal programs, heat pump installation in Metro Vancouver can be partially funded through stacked rebates. Here’s the current rebate landscape for Vancouver homeowners.

Available Rebates (2025)

BC Hydro / FortisBC (CleanBC Better Homes)

  • Air-source heat pump: Up to $3,000 (BC Hydro) + up to $3,000 (FortisBC) = up to $6,000 combined
  • Heat pump water heater: Up to $1,000
  • Smart thermostat: $75

Canada Greener Homes Incentive (Federal)

  • Air-source heat pump: Up to $5,000 (through CGH Loan or grant programs)
  • Pre+post EnerGuide evaluation required: rebate up to $600

Municipal Programs

Some Metro Vancouver cities offer additional rebates through their Climate Action Plans. Check with City of Vancouver (VGS program), Burnaby, and Surrey for current local incentives.

How to Access Rebates

  1. Pre-retrofit EnerGuide assessment (for federal programs)
  2. Install eligible heat pump (must be on approved product list)
  3. Apply to BC Hydro/FortisBC and federal programs
  4. Post-retrofit assessment (for federal programs)

Rebate Stacking Example

A Vancouver homeowner installing a qualifying cold-climate heat pump could receive: $3,000 (BC Hydro) + $3,000 (FortisBC) + $5,000 (federal) = $11,000 in total rebates.
